MY 1979 BRONCO HISTORY

I Purchased the truck in 1984 on Long Island NY, with 67,000 miles on
it. It had 32" Armstrong tires with no lift, and a stock 351M.The
truck was only 5 years old, and was in great shape. When the truck hit 100,000 miles in '86, I pulled the motor and began the first of several upgrades. The first upgrade consisted of a 260 cam and stock 8:1 +.030 pistons, and an Edelbrock performer 400 intake with a Quadrajet(Yes with an adapter plate). It got it's first re-paint and tailgate in '88. I kept the same colors, and replaced the interior as well. In '91, I pulled & rebuilt the motor again, adding an Edelbrock 1406, decking the heads .010, and installed a Centerforce clutch. By '97 the rear wells had rotted out, and I could see the road from inside. The truck got another face lift. The latest drivetrain upgrade was in March, 2001. The original 351M was retired, and I built a fresh 351M, with TRW-2466F Pistons +.030, Ported/polished heads, Crane 260 cam, Roller rockers, Roller chain, and Accel Distributor. The T-18 and NP-205 were also rebuilt at the same time to give the truck a fresh start. The truck is still my daily driver, but I find myself doing more & more for fun. Most people think I'm nuts to keep it up, but I enjoy working on it. The 2nd generation Bronco was only made for two years, which makes it unique (as far as I am concerned). I have added GPS, Lincoln keyless entry, CD, Steering wheel stereo controls, Cruise, Power door locks, A/C with Volvo ducts, and many other gadgets. It's the only way to bring a '79 into the 21st Century. (BUT NO COMPUTER OR AIR BAGS!......THEY SCREW-UP OFF ROAD!)
